    Commander, U.S. 2nd Fleet

BOSTON, Mass. – Sailors aboard USS Oak Hill pulled into Boston June 29 for the opening of Boston Harborfest 2011.

The sailors of Oak Hill were greeted by thousands of Boston residents, including the coordinator for Boston Harborfest, Susan Park.

“We welcome our brave service members who sacrifice themselves every day for this great country to the 30th anniversary of Boston Harborfest,” said Park. “We hope that our guests enjoy themselves in this rich city full of history and sights.”

Representing the sailors of Oak Hill, the ship’s commanding officer Cmdr. David Bauer spoke about being a part of the event.

“We are absolutely thrilled to represent the U.S. Navy for this illustrious event,” said Bauer. “My sailors and I look forward to being here and we welcome those who would like to tour Oak Hill, the finest ship in the Navy with the proudest crew you will ever see.”

Many of Oak Hill’s sailors look forward to touring the city and participating in events leading up to the 4th of July.

“I’ve never been to an event as big as this one, so this is new for me,” said Petty Officer 3rd Class Kyle Bilharz, from Seattle, Wash. “The 4th of July in Boston is looking to be something that no one should want to miss.”
