KONDUZ PROVINCE, Afghanistan – A cultural support team conducted the first female shura with the populace at a school in Dom Shak, June 10.
The objective of the shura was to interact with female villagers and discuss their concerns, identify key female leaders, continue efforts to finalize mapping the local population terrain, gather atmospherics and evaluate the local security situations.
The village elder and school principal coordinated with local forces to provide a neutral location for the shura to take place.
The CST introduced themselves to the 25 local women who attended the shura to discuss feasibility of women’s projects to enhance economic growth and obtain female perspective of security. The CST was able to lead a successful shura and gather pertinent atmospherics for village stability operations and identified one volunteer to lead future shuras in the village.
The female populace has the ability, need and willingness to participate in future projects, including income generating projects and basic education classes, said a CST member.
