U.S. Marine, Magalia, Calif. native commended for his outstanding performance

Darrin Richardson was awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal by the commanding officer of Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group, Col. Christopher McCarthy for his exemplary performance of his duties while deployed as the logistics chief for the Georgia Training Team, Krtsanisi Training Area, Republic of Georgia from September 2010 to March 2011. He is currently serving as a motor transportation mechanic for the unit. Richardson is a graduate of Home Tech High School.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Magalia, Calif. native and Home Tech High School class of 2004 graduate, Sgt. Darrin Richardson was presented with a Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal during a formation at Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group aboard Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek – Fort Story, Va., May 26.

Richardson was awarded this medal for his exemplary performance of his duties while serving deployed as the logistics chief for the Georgia Training Team, Krtsanisi Training Area, Republic of Georgia from September 2010 to March 2011.

Richardson is currently serving as a motor transportation mechanic with the logistics and embarkation section of MCTAG.

Prior to checking into MCTAG, Richardson served as a motor transportation dispatcher with Marine Wing Communications Squadron 28, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C.

In 2008-2009, Richardson deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with Combat Logistics Battalion 28.

Richardson is married to Heidi Richardson who is originally from Moline, Illinois but currently resides with her husband in the Hampton Roads area.

His parents Phil and Lynn Richardson still reside in the Magalia, Calif.
Marine Corps Training and Advisory Group is a unit in the Marine Corps that provides conventional training and advisor teams to work alongside partner Nations' security forces.
