KANDAHAR, Afghanistan – Taliban insurgents executed an Afghan village elder on the same day that Afghan Local Police located a lost girl and reunited her with her family in southern Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, May 1.

The elder was a family father in his village, which is located in Kandahar’s Panjwai District, as well as a local leader, said a U.S. Special Forces team leader working in Panjwai.

Elsewhere in Kandahar province, members of the Afghan Local Police in Khakrez District located a young girl whose parents reported her to the ALP and Special Forces as having been lost for at least 24 hours.

The Local Police found her after voluntarily launching a patrol, and helped escort the girl to her family the same day she was located.
