    Story by Sgt. Katryn McCalment

    NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan

BAGHLAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan – With the combined efforts of Special Operations Task Force – East, Afghanistan’s National Directorate of Security, a Hungarian Explosives Ordnance Disposal team and the Afghan National Army Special Forces, a significant stockpile of weapons ordnance was destroyed in Pol-e Khumri district, Baghlan province, April 30.

The munitions were being held at the NDS Headquarters until destruction was possible and were a result of months of operations to lessen the threat of improvised explosive devices to local civilians, as well as Afghan and Coalition forces in the province.

    The stockpile included 125 anti-personnel mines, 80 107-millimeter rockets, 20 55-millimeter rockets, 200 30-millimeter anti-aircraft high-explosive rockets, 15 anti-tank mines, more than 100 rocket-propelled grenades and mortar rounds, and numerous boxes of ammunition.

The partnered-force moved the munitions to a safe location for destruction. No civilians were injured and no property damage was reported.
