KABUL, Afghanistan – Members of the Afghan government, local Afghan National Security Forces and members of the International Security Assistance Force gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony at the Fatema Zahar Girls School in Kunduz, recently.
“My friends, we are here today to celebrate not only a wall of protection going up, but an even bigger wall coming down,” said Mohammad Zaher Nazm, minister, Department of Education, Kunduz province. “A wall of hopelessness and despair the Taliban built around the women of Afghanistan brick by brick for far too long.”
The combined effort between Afghan National Security Forces and ISAF has brought about greater education to areas previously held by insurgents according to ISAF officials.
