KABUL, Afghanistan - Six Afghan civilian instructors graduated the first Basic Instructor Training Course at Pohantoon-e-Hawayee, the Afghan Air Force's "Big Air School", on the Afghan Air Force base in Kabul, Afghanistan Feb. 15.
The course developed by members of 738th Air Expeditionary Advisory Squadron prepares Afghan Air Force instructors to overcome upcoming training challenges. The curriculum’s building course objectives are developing lesson plans, questioning techniques, student counseling, testing, and instructor roles and responsibilities.
This two-week course fulfills a major building block of the instructor qualification training also known as instructor boot camp. The course incorporates computer skills, supervised instruction, instructor evaluations and the train-the-trainer course that prepares them as future supervisors.
The first course focused on training the Afghan civilian instructors who will certify the course material prior to AAF instructor participation.
Master Sgt. DJ Jost, standard and evaluation non-commissioned officer at PeH, explained, “I think the graduation was a great accomplishment. For us to show them how to be better instructors is only going to help the younger Air Force members down the road.”
