    Sigonella sailor found dead in residence

    SIGONELLA, Sicily - Seaman Timothy J. Damoulis, an information technician and 22-year-old sailor assigned to U.S. Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Sigonella, was found dead Friday morning, Jan. 14, in his off base quarters near the Naval Air Station Sigonella Support site.

    Damoulis, who reported for duty on May 9, 2009, was discovered in his off base quarters by a co-worker when he failed to report for work. His next of kin has been notified.

    The cause of death is unknown at this time and is being investigated by the Navy Criminal Investigative Service.

    "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this most difficult time, He was a good and loyal shipmate that could always be counted on to get the mission accomplished" said Cmdr. Bruce Black, commanding officer of Naval Computer and Telecommunication Station, Sicily.

    Petty Officer Damoulis enlisted in the Navy on June 3, 2008. He was assigned to Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, Ill., and Information Technician “A” school in Pensacola, Fla., prior to reporting to Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Sigonella. His home of record was Port Lucie, Fla.
