KAPISA PROVINCE, Afghanistan – Afghan National Security Forces and French Task Force Allobroges of Task Force Lafayette conducted a combined security operation in Alah Say Valley Dec. 22, 2010 to Jan. 2.
Operation Blacksmith Hammer had its combined headquarters at French Forward Operating Base Kutschbach and TF Allobroges had its tactical headquarters in Jalokhel, Alah Say Valley, where the combined troops conducted the operation.
U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Steve Townsend, Regional Command - East deputy commanding general for operations, came to the field to check the combined military team’s efforts and met French Army Brig. Gen. Jean-François Hogard, TF Lafayette commander, and Afghan Army Brig. Gen. Emam Nazar, 3rd Light Infantry Brigade commander, Dec. 30, 2010.
Blacksmith Hammer was labeled a success due to the combined forces’ improved security in the area through numerous insurgent neutralizations and caches findings.
