CAMP LEATHERNECK, Afghanistan – Afghan uniformed police recruits along with their Ministry of Interior instructors were able to go to a bazaar at the Joint Security Academy Southwest here, Dec. 27.

The bazaar usually comes to JSAS once a week so that the Afghan recruits and MOI instructors can purchase commodities that would otherwise be unavailable to them.

Abulhabed, an AUP recruit from Helmand province, said the shopkeepers usually bring what they need; however, sometimes they don’t have all of the items that the recruits want.

“If the shopkeeper forgets something or doesn’t have something, then we tell him and he will write it down and bring it the next time,” said Abulhabed.

Abulhabed said that having the bazaar available to the recruits is good for their morale because it allows them to purchase items that make training a little easier.

“We are happy that we are here training and all the recruits being able to buy stuff makes everyone happy,” said Abulhabed.
