CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE ADDER, Iraq - Soldiers with the 110th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 224th Sustainment Brigade, 103rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), sang with the chapel Gospel Choir for the Gospel Explosion event in front of more than 200 soldiers Nov. 25 at Contingency Operating Base Adder, Iraq.

The concert was promoted by the Lt. Col. Robert Blessing, a chaplain with the 224th Sust. Bde., and a San Diego native, who greeted soldiers at the Memorial Hall door.

Spc. Ronniel Brown, radio telephone operator with the 110th CSSB, and a Florence, S.C., native, helped to lead the choir in several songs during the evening presentation, including several worship and seasonal favorites.

“It is a privilege to be able to sing with the chapel choir each week,” Brown said. “It was a lot of work to prepare for this, but I think it turned out very well.”

Brown enjoys the chance to work with others while leading worship for the chapel. He is looking forward to redeploying back home in a few months. He is also looking forward to being promoted to sergeant when he returns to the U.S.

Staff Sgt. Leticia Mitchell, mortuary affairs non-commissioned officer-in-charge with the 110th CSSB, and a Lithonia, Ga., native, and Spc. Sejora Williams, standard Army maintenance system 2E operator with the 110th CSSB, and a Social Circle, Ga., native, both sing with the chapel choir. Mitchell has been singing alto for years; Williams also sings alto.

“It is so exciting to sing in the choir,” said Mitchell. “Hopefully we’ll carry that same joy and excitement from this choir back with us when we are redeployed to the U.S. next year.”
