KABUL, Afghanistan – More than 20 soldiers from the 1st, 2nd and 6th Afghan National Army Commando Kandaks graduated from the basic Afghan Information Dissemination Operations course Nov. 11 at Camp Morehead, Kabul province.
This was the sixth class to graduate from Camp Morehead and the students, who go through a four-week course, are now trained to interact with the Afghan population and influence behavior through truthful and timely information.
“This [Afghan Information Dissemination Operations] graduation represents another milestone in the commando’s effort to build this capacity within their kandaks,” said U.S. Army Capt. Dan McConnell, Afghan Information Dissemination Operations detachment commander. “These commandos will return to their units and provide a new tool, [Afghan Information Dissemination Operations], to the commanders; and this tool is the most important harbinger of change in how the Afghan Army approaches its non-lethal operations.”
Afghan Gen. Dadon Lawang, 1st Commando Brigade commander, and Col. Donald Buldoc, Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Afghanistan commander, were guest speakers at the event.
