KABUL, Afghanistan – The International Security Assistance Force confirmed the capture of a Haqqani Network facilitator who supplied weapons, vehicles and materials to insurgent fighters operating in Sabari District, during an overnight operation in Khost province Thursday.
Intelligence reports led the security force to a compound north of Surwapan Toy in Sabari District to search for the facilitator. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully, and then the joint security force cleared and secured the area.
After automatic weapons and explosive material were found at the scene, the security force detained the facilitator along with several of his associates without shots fired.
The assault force protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
