KABUL, Afghanistan – Multiple intelligence sources led to the arrest of a suspected weapons facilitator at the Kabul International Airport, Monday.
Afghan National Security Forces discovered the target had boarded an airplane which had taken off and was destined for Saudi Arabia. Afghan authorities ordered it back to the airport.
ANSF boarded the plane and the suspected insurgent identified himself to the security forces and was arrested without incident.
The suspected insurgent, who was a part of the Haqqani Network, was wanted for facilitating weapons and ammunition used in attacks against ANSF and International Security Assistance Forces. He was also known to have participated in numerous IED attack against ANSF and ISAF.
Three other suspected insurgents who were travelling with the wanted insurgent were detained, one of which had an active warrant issued by Afghan authorities.
All the detainees were taken by Afghan authorizes for processing and further questioning.
