UPDATE ISAF confirms capture of Haqqani Network facilitator in Khost

KABUL, Afghanistan – The International Security Assistance Force confirmed the capture of a Haqqani Network facilitator of weapons and improvised explosive device materials, during an overnight operation in Khost province Tuesday.

Intelligence reports led the security force to a compound in Zambar in Sabari district to search for the facilitator. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the compound peacefully, and then the joint security force cleared and secured the area.

After initial questioning at the scene, the security force detained the facilitator along with one of his associates.

The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
