Today's spotlight shines brightly on Pvt. Brittaney Donaldson, a native of Atlanta.
Donaldson is one of the brigade's newest soldiers. She has served in the military for six months and been part of the 53rd Transportation Battalion for little more than a week.
Working as a transportation management coordinator Donaldson is assigned to the 271st Movement Control Team, 53rd Transportation Battalion, 7th Sustainment Brigade.
"I love my unit," she said. "My non-commissioned officers really motivate me to be more."
Though she may be new to the Army, Donaldson has already experienced first hand the rewards of being a soldier.
"The health care benefits are great and there are a lot of good Army programs," she explained. One program to take advantage of is Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers. I also feel good just knowing that I am serving in the Army. We help those who need it and we defend our country. What other job can give you that much pride? None as far as I'm concerned," she said.
Still, being a soldier does bring some hardship.
"For me the hardest part is just being away from family," she said. "I call home and I use Skype to see my family on the computer. Also, we get 30 days of leave a year. You can always use that time to visit your loved ones."
Donaldson's words to live by, "Live to learn, love to live." To new soldiers entering the military she gives this valuable piece of advice, "Be flexible, things are always changing."
