    16th Military Police Brigade

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Leadership of Fort Bragg’s “One of a Kind” Military Police Brigade changed in a ceremony conducted on Fort Bragg Oct. 1.

Retired Col. John F. Garrity and retired Command Sgt. Maj. Brian K. Lambert transferred authority of the 16th Military Police Brigade to Col. Chad B. McRee and Command Sgt. Maj. Todd Spradling in a ceremony honoring the distinguished careers of both command teams.

“This unit does everything efficiently, professionally, and without wasting any time,” said Lt. Gen. Frank Helmick, commander of the XVIII Airborne Corps and the reviewing official of the ceremony during his opening remarks.

Previously in the ceremony, Garrity and Lambert were recognized for their service to the United States and retired after a combined total of over 50 years in the United States Army.

“I received an email the other day by a sergeant that I served with so many years ago. He said he could not imagine an Army with “Col. G” [Garrity] in it. I can. I see an Army that is strong because we have talented soldiers who have committed their lives in defense of freedom,” said Garrity about his departure. “I see a future that is bright because officers and non-commissioned officers with whom I have served are ready to take on more responsibility.”

In front of family, friends and soldiers of the 16th Military Police Brigade, the colors were passed to McRee, signifying the beginning of his command of the brigade.

McRee spoke about the resiliency of the military family during his comments, pledging to work with Spradling to strengthen bonds within the organization.

“While the demands associated with Army life can be challenging, the tapestry of this military family is strong and it’s woven to withstand and endure,” said McRee. “We too will work hard to add our threads of strength and stability to this tapestry.”
