NASIRIYAH, Iraq – The 3rd Advise and Assist Brigade, 4th Infantry Division kicked off their brigade’s participation in the Combined Federal Campaign–Overseas with a luncheon Oct. 3.
The CFC is an organization that serves as a fund-raising liaison between charitable organizations and federal employees.
“We are asking our soldiers to donate to charitable causes that are international and in the United States,” said Maj. Rebekah Lust. “It’s the only way that the Army and Department of Defense allow organizations to solicit soldiers for contributions.”
At the luncheon, soldiers were given the 2010 Official Charity Listing so they can take part in the world-wide campaign. The charity listing is a diverse catalogue of more than 2,300 organizations, each specializing in a specific area of philanthropy.
“I’ve been donating to CFC since I joined the Army, and I believe these are worthy causes. I always encourage my soldiers to give,” said Chief Warrant Officer Larry Delgado, brigade community project officer, 3rd AAB, 4th Inf. Div.
The campaign will last until the beginning of December, at which time the Iron Brigade will be holding a ceremony awarding those who substantially contributed to the CFC-O.
