FOB KALSU, Iraq - Iraqi government officials met here March 5 to discuss ways to enhance the state of Greater Iskandariyah's electric power supply.
Sabah Khafaji, chairman of the Iskandariyah Nahia Council; Naffe Abdullah Noori, Secretary of Iskandariyah Nahia Council; a representative of the Directorate General of Electricty for Iskandariyah; and other various representatives of the government
established a working group to design a mutually agreeable plan to repair and improve power distribution throughout the city.
Greater Iskandariyah is made up of Iskandariyah, Haswah, Eskan, Hateen Apartments, and Jiff-Jaffe.
The officials agreed to attempt to increase the electrical distribution to 13 mega watts and to realign the power distribution scheme to address a power shortage in Haswah.
The working group will meet again to produce a detailed scope of work and cost estimate. This will be necessary before submitting a project proposal to the Provincial Reconstruction and Development Council.
"This is the latest example of local leaders working together with the Provincial Government to improve the quality of life and essential services for Iraqi citizens," said Khafaji.
