KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition security force pursued the Taliban deputy district leader for Musa Qal’ah district in Helmand province Sunday, detaining several suspected insurgents.

The targeted individual commands 30 fighters and conducts intimidation campaigns, executions, suicide bombings and improvised explosive device attacks against Afghan civilians and Afghan and coalition forces.

The joint security force targeted a compound in Musa Qal’ah district to search for the senior leader, who reportedly commands 30 fighters. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all the occupants to exit the compounds peacefully and then secured the area.

After initial questioning at the scene, the security force detained the suspected insurgents for further questioning.

Afghan and coalition forces did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children throughout the search.
