KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents in Ghazni province Saturday while in pursuit of a Taliban leader active in improvised explosive device and indirect fire attacks, who regularly endangers the local Afghan populace. He was also involved in a recent IED strike against two vehicles.

Based on intelligence tips, the security force targeted a compound in the village of Lowy Shar in Andar District to search for the targeted individual.

Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the targeted compound peacefully and then the joint security force cleared and secured the compound.

After initial questioning of the residents at the scene, the security force detained several suspected insurgents.

The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
