KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition security forces killed one insurgent in Logar Saturday while in pursuit of a Taliban leader who directs complex indirect fire, improvised explosive device and direct fire attacks against Afghan civilians and Afghan and coalition forces. He also commands Hezb-E Gulbuddin fighters in Logar.

Based on intelligence reports, the security force targeted a compound in the village of Alozai in Pul-e 'Alam District to search for the targeted individual, who also participates in financing the insurgency.

As the security force approached the targeted compound, an armed man threatened the security force. The assault force engaged and killed him.

After the area was secure, Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully and then the joint security force cleared and secured the area. The security force protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
