    Senior Taliban leader targeted in airstrike

    KABUL, Afghanistan - Multiple intelligence sources and tips from local citizens led to the location and a subsequent airstrike targeting a senior Taliban leader in the Nad 'Ali District of Helmand province today.

    The targeted senior Taliban leader was reportedly the acting shadow district governor of Nad 'Ali. He was also active in numerous attacks against Afghan National Security and International Security Assistance Forces.

    Initial reporting indicates that two of the targeted insurgents were killed and two insurgents fled the scene shortly after the airstrike.

    Initial operational reporting states there were no civilian casualties.
