Regional Guard Brigade conducts familiarization live-fire range

BAGHDAD - Soldiers from the 1st Regional Guard Brigade are scheduled to begin a three-day AK-47 marksmanship training and live-fire familiarization range at the Sulaymaniyah Police Academy Saturday.

This training is being conducted as part of efforts to develop an integrated battalion of Peshmerga soldiers with basic infantry skills to prepare them for future duties as part of the Iraqi Security Force.

Once the unit completes training, it will meet the readiness requirements necessary to deploy on missions in Combined Security areas, strengthening Iraq’s safety and security posture.

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Interior and the MoP coordinated this training with the Iraqi Army, which uses a regular training program for basic combat training.

This training will provide important skills and facilitate the integration of diverse soldiers of different backgrounds into the RGB, a force that has only been in existence for eight months.
