KABUL – An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban sub-commander, who facilitated and planned improvised explosive device attacks, during an operation in Logar province Sunday.

Based on intelligence tips, the security force targeted a compound in the village of Ozbak Kheyl in Pul-e ‘Alam district to search for the commander. Afghan forces called for all occupants to exit the buildings peacefully and then the combined force cleared and secured the compound.

After questioning the residents at the scene, the security force identified and detained the commander.

The assault force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children throughout the search.
