Suspected insurgents detained in ongoing clearing operations

KABUL- An Afghan and coalition security force detained several suspected insurgents in Kandahar Saturday while in pursuit of a Taliban facilitator for Arghandab District. The facilitator coordinates the movement of weapons and supplies for Taliban commanders operating in the province.

Acting on intelligence reports, the security force targeted a campsite southwest of the village of Shaturi in Arghandab District to search for the facilitator. Afghan forces used a loudspeaker to call for all occupants to exit the campsite peacefully and then secured the area.

After initial questioning of the residents on scene, the security force detained four suspected insurgents.

The security force did not fire their weapons and they protected the women and children for the duration of the search.
