KABUL, Afghanistan - A combined Afghan National Security and coalition force operation resulted in the detention of several Taliban insurgents in Uruzgan province, Sept. 5.

After arrival at the suspected Taliban insurgent compound, the combined Afghan National Security and coalition force was met immediately with small-arms fire by a single insurgent. Afghan and coalition forces returned fire, killing the attacker.

Upon entering the target compound, they searched the compound detaining nine suspected insurgents.

Additionally, Afghan National Security and coalition forces tracked four suspected insurgents leaving the target compound just prior to arrival of the combined force and followed them to another nearby compound. Afghan National Security and coalition forces proceeded to that compound and conducted a call-out where they detained four suspected insurgents.

As a result of the operation, Afghan National Security and coalition forces detained a total of 13 suspected insurgents.
