ROTTERDAM, Netherlands – Fay Hartog Levin, U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands, Henk Jan Ormel, Netherlands Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Hans van Baalen, a member of the European Parliament, paid a visit to USS Taylor (FFG 50) here, Aug. 18.
During a luncheon and tour of the ship, Levin shared many little-known historical insights about the relationship between the Netherlands and the United States.
“The Netherlands and the United States recently celebrated 400 years of uninterrupted relations,” said Levin. “We have reinforced this relationship over the years with strong military cooperation, and economic and trade ties.”
After the luncheon, the crew of Taylor hosted a tour of the ship for her guests which included the ship’s pilot house, combat information center and flight deck areas.
“It was a special privilege and honor to have met Ambassador Levin,” remarked Senior Chief Petty Officer Kenneth Myers. “Any time we get the opportunity to show what these great Sailors are doing is a plus.”
Taylor, an Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate homeported in Mayport, Fla., is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.
