LANGLEY AIR FORCE BASE, Va. -- The Langley Lanes Bowling Center celebrated its reopening, June 22, with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Col. Donald Kirkland, 633d Air Base Wing commander, Col. Kevin Altman, 633d Mission Support Group commander, Lt. Col. Jeffrey Ullmann, 633d Civil Engineer Squadron commander and Maj. Jenise Carroll, 633d Force Support Squadron commander, cut the ribbon at the ceremony.

Kirkland and Ullmann spoke at the ceremony, expressing their excitement and enthusiasm about the renovation and reopening of the bowling center.

"This is a great addition to FSS," said Ullmann.

Renovations include an arcade, two sets of bathrooms and office space. In addition, the center features new bowler seating, a new proshop, locker room and storage area.

The 15-month renovation project cost $4.9 million Ullmann said. Construction began in January 2009 and was completed at the end of April 2010.

Ullmann said he was impressed with the ability of everyone to bring together a challenging design and thankful to all who participated in making the renovations such a success.

Kirkland stressed his appreciation of the renovation team and said it is "great to have this back open."

Langley Lanes opened for business June 23 and will host a grand reopening celebration, July 15.
