Col. Bill Burleson, commander, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Brig. Gen. Frank Leidenberger, commander Regional Command North, and members of the Afghan security forces met with Rodriguez to discuss operations in northern Afghanistan.

According to the ISAF website, Rodriquez's mission is to direct day-to-day operations of coalition forces across Afghanistan while partnering with the Afghan security forces and institutions to help Afghans achieve a durable stability what will prevent terrorist and violent extremist groups from again taking root in Afghanistan.

"It's very important as part of the partnership that we protect the population so the enemy that causes problems does not undermine the security forces or local government," Burleson said.

The leaders also discussed the importance of the partnerships with the security forces.

"This embedded partnering with the Afghan security forces will not only improve their ability to do their jobs, but it will build relationships, ensure accountability and get the job done," Burleson said. "We must live, train, and operate with our partners here."
