    174th Attack Wing

    SYRACUSE, NY – Colonel Charles Hutson, former 174th Attack Wing Deputy Commander, retired after 30 years of military service during a ceremony at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base May 4, 2024.

    Retired United States Air Force Col. Charles Dorsey, former 174th Fighter Wing vice commander, presided over the retirement ceremony, which included speeches, awards, and farewells.

    Prior to Hutson residing as the 174th Attack Wing Deputy Commander, he served as the Director of Federal Resources at Joint Force Headquarters in Latham, New York, Deputy United States Property and Fiscal Officer in Latham, 174th Attack Wing, Inspector General and Chief of Fiscal Policy for Force Reintegration, Kabul, Afghanistan.

    Hutson earned a Regular Army commission in 1994 through the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at Clarkson University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and Management. Additionally, he holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia College.

    He is a graduated commander, career comptroller, and veteran of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and NOBLE EAGLE. He is professionally accredited as a Certified Defense Financial Manager in addition to being DoD Financial Management Level-3 Certified since 2018.

    He is a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers and a lifetime member of the National Guard Association of the United States. He has extensive experience at both wing and joint force headquarters levels.

    His assignments included Comptroller, 174th Fighter Wing, Hancock ANGB, Syracuse, Maintenance Production Control Officer, B Company, 427th Support Battalion, Rochester, and Resource Management Officer, 501st Intelligence Brigade, Seoul Korea.

    His awards and decorations include, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Korea Defense Medal.

    For all of his outstanding achievements, Hutson received the Legion of Merit during the ceremony.
