Soldiers station at Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) proudly supported the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Arizona on the morning of April 25, 2024.

The Somerton Police Department handed off the torch to the Soldiers at the edge of the City of Somerton.

The nearly 20 Soldiers from the Airborne Test Force, Medical Clinic, Veterinary Clinic, and Chapel jogged two miles, including uphill, with the torch in hand.

As they reached the top of the hill, they handed the torch to the Cocopah Police Department.

Nearly 20 agencies countrywide participated in the run which ended at the Colorado River State Historic Park in Yuma, Ariz.

Sgt. Jason Yang who carried the torch a portion of the route said, “It felt like a sense of pride and responsibility to hold on to it and bring it to the top with everyone supporting you. It was as great feeling.”
