MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. — Christovale Sr. had served as CLR-1's sergeant major from December 2007 to February 2010.
"Sgt. Maj. Christovale, you have done an outstanding job," said Col. Thomas B. Eipp, commanding officer, Combat Logistics Regiment 1. "I couldn't have asked for anything better. I appreciate everything you have done and look forward to working with you in the future."
As Christovale took his turn to adress the crowd he thanked all the officers, enlisted Marines and family members who he had worked with during his time with CLR-1.
"I want to thank you for all your hard work and dedication. I thank God each day that you answered the call to serve your country and to the Marine Corps," said Christovale as he turned to speak to the Marines in formation. "We can't do what we do here in the Marine Corps without each and every one of you."
After his address to the Marines he welcomed Conover back to the MLG and to his new home at CLR-1.
"I know you will do great things," said Christovale.
As Sgt. Maj. Conover took his turn do say a few words he expressed his willingness to serve his new unit.
"Never forget the most important thing that we are supposed to do as Marines, and that is complete the mission," said Conover.
