FORT BUCHANAN, Puerto Rico- The 1st Mission Support Command, U.S. Army Reserve Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands, is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert L. Perkins as the Command Executive Officer (CXO) until Julio Aponte returns from the 210th Regional Support Group mobilization.
With an extensive background in Human Resources, serving in critical leadership roles as both a soldier and civilian at various levels. His most recent position, prior to the 1st MSC, was a Deputy to the Garrison Commander, within the Installation Management Command. Perkins brings a wealth of expertise and experience, along with the passion for ensuring mission success while in this vital position.
As the Command Executive Officer, Perkins is the Senior Civilian Advisor to the Commanding General and will oversee the strategic direction, programs, overall priorities for the Commander of the 1st MSC.
Perkins' leadership philosophy states, "As the CXO, I will always champion our mission and vision and support our team members in every endeavor."
As part of the organization's Defense Support of Civil Authorities mission, the 1st MSC provides support throughout the Caribbean and the Army during manmade and natural disasters.
Perkins revealed his commitment to ensuring the 1st MSC reaches their fullest potential through proper direction, mentorship, and training. He recognizes that each organization's team members are "excellent ambassadors" for the command and prioritizes treating everyone with dignity and respect.
Perkins believes effective leaders must foster transparency and communication throughout all levels to ensure organizational success and build a cohesive team. He emphasized that the Army Values hold great significance and serve as the foundation by which he serves.
Perkins brings over three decades of combined federal service to his role. He joined the Army in 1987 and retired with over 20 years of active-duty service, transitioning to the civil service in 2008. Perkins has gained valuable experience at various levels and his assignments around the world which include assignments in the Netherlands, Germany, Japan, and Middle East.
