MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO, Va. –Military officials selected Capt. Justin S. Weaver as an All-Marine Athlete for the 2023 Marine Corps Marathon Weekend in Washington, D.C., Oct. 26-30.

Weaver, 30, is currently stationed at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, with Marine Aviation Training Support Group 22.

“The marathon is a 20-mile warmup with a 6.2-mile race at the end,” said Weaver.

The 2015 Georgia Institute of Technology alumnus is one of 10 Marines who will make up the 2023 All-Marine Marathon Team.

“Running for the All-Marine Running Team for the past 19 plus years has enabled me to stay connected to the young Marines and introduce them to the plethora of opportunities that the Marine Corps has to offer,” explained All-Marine Marathon Team Coach Col. Joseph Galvin. “Leading this team and representing the Marine Corps is a way to develop camaraderie with my fellow Marines and the other armed service members.”

Weaver, a 2011-graduate of Pickens County High School in Jasper, Georgia, commissioned in the Marine Corps on March 26, 2016. This will be his second full marathon.

“It is extremely difficult to make the All-Marine Marathon team,” said Semper Fit Sports Operations Officer Capt. Miles Coats, a native of Lacey, Washington. “Prospective athletes must pass a variety of highly competitive application requirements; making the final roster is of the highest honor.”
