13th Armored Corps Sustainment Command (13th ESC)

AL ASAD, Iraq — Soldiers of Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 751st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 96th Sustainment Brigade, 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) conducted chemical awareness training this month. Sgt. Ryan Wolf and Spc. Timothy Randolph, both chemical operations specialists with the 751st, were the primary instructors for the training.

Wolf, from Charleston, S.C. and Randolph, a Columbia S.C. native put on several training sessions to accommodate the work schedules of the Soldiers within the battalion. One of the topics they covered was the proper way of donning the chemical mask. Soldiers had properly put their masks on once hearing the call, "Gas, gas, gas!" Soldiers are supposed to be able to properly put on the mask and seal it within nine seconds. Wolf also covered the amount of time you have to clear the contaminated area once you put on your mask.

Randolph demonstrated the proper way of putting on your Joint Service Lightweight Integrated Suit Technology. "It's good to work in my MOS that I was trained for, but I'm willing to do whatever is asked of me for the good of the company," said Randolph.

Upon completion of the training, Soldiers did a thorough check of their mask. "I enjoyed the training because I haven't done it for a while, but I hope I never have to use it", said Capt. Misty Aycock, the logistics officer for the 751st CSSB, and a Columbia, S.C. native.
