KAPISA PROVINCE, Afghanistan — Since July, the United States embassy in France, in cooperation with French troops in Kapisa province, Afghanistan, have been involved with humanitarian relief for underprivileged children in the province.

The project was initiated and managed by Madam Elizabeth, a French teacher in the embassy. She is also the mother of the French doctor, responsible for the command and logistic company medical post, Task Force Korrigan, surnamed "the French clinic" by American "medics" and Afghans doctors who work with their counterpart in Kapisa province.

The American ambassador in Paris, Charles Rivken and Americans in the French capital supported the project by collecting supplies to send to TF Korrigan.

The objective of this large scale project is to collect number of supplies for the children in Kapisa, who come to receive medical aid in the first-aid post. The success of this project also comes from photos taken by the medical staff for the generous donors, via the United States embassy in France.

Some of the supplies that have been sent are clothes and shoes for children under 10, school supplies, stuffed animals and small toys, candy, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

Since the beginning of the operation, more than 30 boxes have been sent to Afghanistan, representing more than 100 kilos of equipment for children. More than a hundred children have already benefitted from the gifts.

The project will continue after TF Korrigan re-deploys back to France. Task Force Black Roc French doctors will take over this initiative when they arrive in December.
