FORT CARSON Colo. — As dusk fell, goblins and pirates, witches and princesses, weird creatures of all shapes and sizes romped through the 4th Infantry Division Special Troops Battalion Company Operations Facility gorging themselves on sweets, all the while making a terrible ruckus.
DSTB Soldiers and families congregated that strange night to relax and have fun during a Halloween Party and Family Readiness Group Meeting Oct. 27.
Dressed in their Halloween attire, Soldiers and families socialized, competed in a costume contest, and discussed future FRG events.
"We put on this event to bring everybody together," said Nicki Pascale, Family Readiness Support assistant for DSTB. "We are a family. When the Soldiers deploy, it is important that the rest of us are here to support each other."
Following the meeting, the DSTB kids trick-or-treated through the halls of the COF, and gripped their parents' hands tightly during a tour of the haunted house.
This tunnel of terror was built and operated by DSTB Soldiers, who said they were excited to scare comrades and their families alike.
"Seeing the look on everybody's faces was priceless," said Staff Sgt. Rodel Arinas, military policeman, Company A, DSTB, 4th Inf. Div.
"The haunted house was really cool and awesome!" said Cody Godinho, son of Sgt. Julio Godinho, training room non-commissioned officer for Headquarters Headquarters Company, DSTB, 4th Inf. Div.
"I want to do it again!" said Cody's sister Cassidy Godinho.
With one spooky party under their belts, sheets and broomsticks, the DSTB poltergeists drifted home, well rehearsed for Halloween night.
