FOB WARRIOR, Iraq -- Terrorists murdered an Iraqi child and injured five family members when a mortar shell they fired landed on the family's home in Al-Riyadh October 7.

Two mortar rounds struck in front of the Sabah Khalaf Muswed residence as members of the family stood outside, seriously wounding four and mortally wounding one.

The explosion wounded Mr. Muswed; Lt. Ali Sabah Hussein; Mr. Muswed's wife, Zyela; his nine-year old son, Ahmed; and his four-year old son, Kaes. Zyela and Kaes suffered minor wounds from the incident. Lt. Hussein, Mr. Muswed and his son were seriously injured and taken by civilian ambulance to a coalition forces medical facility for treatment. Muswed's son, Ahmed, later died from his injuries.

"Takfirists and terrorists cause much suffering for the people of Iraq," said Brig. Gen. Alan Gayhart, commander of the 116th Brigade Combat Team. "This is another clear example of their careless brutality."

Mr. Muswed is a security guard in Riyadh and the sole support for his family.
