13th Armored Corps Sustainment Command (13th ESC)

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Soldiers from the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) have begun their redeployment season with the return of 40 Soldiers from the 502nd Human Resources Company, Brigade Troops Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade, April 9 and 15 Soldiers from the 126th Forward Surgical Team, 21st Combat Support Hospital, 1st Medical Brigade, April 7.

"I'm just happy to be home," said 1st Lt. Krystal A. Miller, executive officer, 502nd HR Co., BTB, 4th SB, 13th ESC. "And I'm glad we brought all our Soldiers home safely."

Both units were deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom for 15 months.

"I just want to say thank you to my team and especially to our families, because if it wasn't for what you all did here at home, we wouldn't have been able to make it through that deployment," said Maj. John Stich, commander, 126th FST, 21st CSH, 1st Med. Bde., 13th ESC.

Since the inception of the overseas contingency operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere, the units from the 13th ESC have been on the frontlines providing war fighters with the supplies, equipment, and services they need to bring the fight to the enemy.

The nature of the 13th ESC is such that unit's deploy individually rather than brigade or division level deployments. Elements as small as the platoon or squad will often times deploy to overseas contingency operations, serve under other higher headquarters and then fall back in under their old unit upon redeployment.

Units from the 13th ESC are in a constant rotation, but during the summer months, deployments are ramped up as unit's return from theater and are quickly replaced.

Brig. Gen. Paul L. Wentz, commanding general, 13th ESC, said, "As long as there is a Soldier in a fight, a logistician will be there to provide him with whatever he needs to keep up the fight."
