MUBARAK MILITARY CITY, EGYPT (Sept 11, 2001)- The U.S. Army hosted a multinational ceremony, during Bright Star 2005, in observance of the September 11, 2001 tragedy commemorating the event's four-year mark at 10:30 a.m. at MMC's multipurpose center.

Col. Margret W. Boor, 377th Theater Support Command commander and MMC base commander, asked Chaplain Maj. Susan R. Addams and the ministry team of the 171st Area Support Group to conduct the event.

"It was a simple yet respectful service," said Col. Boor, "we wanted to make sure that provisions were made to remember 9-11 where everyone could take a moment to reflect."

The service was not intended to be country specific. In total there were more than 80 multinational troops present.

German Capt. Markus Sadzio, a public affairs officer with the Special Operations Div., was one of many German representatives who made time to attend the service and bow his head in memory of the 9-11 attacks.

"In my opinion, on this day, something changed. There's a certain respect among soldiers," he said. "There are many things I forget. Sometimes I don't remember what happened yesterday, but I will never forget what happened on September 11."

Bright Star is a multi-national, biennial event held this year in Egypt with 11 participating nations.
