NAPLES, Italy – Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa and Commander, U.S. Sixth Fleet announced the command's Sailors of the Year and Sailors of the Quarter during an awards ceremony at Naval Support Activity Capodichino, Feb. 20.
NAVEUR-NAVAF-C6F Sailor of the Quarter: Petty Officer 1st Class James Karasiwicz – A counterterrorism analyst for NAVEUR-NAVAF and C6F for more than two years, Karasiwicz is a Humble, Texas native and has served in the Navy for 16 years.
NAVEUR-NAVAF-C6F Junior Sailor of the Quarter: Petty Officer 2nd Class Ronald Mason – An operations specialist monitoring maritime domain awareness in the Sixth Fleet area of responsibility for three years here at Sixth Fleet Headquarters, Mason is from Los Angeles, Calif. and will celebrate 10 years of U.S. Naval service later this year.
NAVEUR NAVAF-C6F Sailor of the Year: Petty Officer 1st Class Rachel Boss – A C5I system maintenance technician, Boss has been at Sixth Fleet for more than two years. She is from Fredonia, Kan. and has been in the Navy nearly 10 years.
Sixth Fleet Junior Sailor of the Year: Petty Officer 2nd Class Husniyah McNeill – Working for the Sixth Fleet sustainment office replenishing ships with food as they transit through the Sixth Fleet AOR, McNeill, a Manhattan, N.Y. native, has served the U.S. Navy for 14 years.
Sixth Fleet Sailor of the Year: Petty Officer 1st Class Larry Daughtery – A member of Commander, Task Force 69 and native of Morehead City, N.C., has served the U.S. Navy for 14 years. Daughtery will go on to be considered for Fleet Forces Shore Sailor of the Year in March.
Sailors of the Year were awarded Navy Achievement Medals and Sailors of the Quarter were awarded Flag Letters of Commendation.
