BAGRAM AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – Secretary of Defense Robert Gates visited Combined Joint Task Force - 101 at Bagram as part of his surprise visit to Afghanistan.
Gates attended briefings from CJTF-101 leaders on operations, intelligence and precision targeting. He also met with members of the 455th Air Expeditionary Wing and had lunch with Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen from Regional Command - East.
Gates arrived in Kabul Tuesday, meeting with the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai.
