LAKE CHARLES, La. – The Louisiana National Guard has worked fast and furious to save people in Southwest La., who were stranded due to flooding caused by Hurricane Ike. In the first wave of search and rescue missions, Sept. 13, 2008, Soldiers from the 921st Horizontal Engineer Company of the 528th Engineer Battalion of Winnsboro, La., rescued 39 people, three dogs and two cats in the Lake Charles, La., area.
