SINGAPORE – Ticonderoga class guided-missile cruiser USS Shiloh (CG 67) arrived in Singapore for a port visit, March 27.

Shiloh, with more than 350 Sailors, will spend several days in Singapore, enjoying the hospitality, history and heritage of the city and surrounding area.

Port visits provide U.S. Navy Sailors a chance to connect with the citizens and residents, while exploring the wide variety of experiences unique to a city or country.

“The U.S. Navy has had a presence in this region for 70 years,” said Capt. Kurush Morris, Shiloh’s commanding officer. “Many of the crew have spent numerous years operating in the waters of the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. Regardless of whether it is a Sailor’s first time in a new port, or they have been there many times before, we always look forward to a chance to meet people and experience the culture ashore. We are excited to be here, and looking forward to our time in Singapore.”

The ship recently participated in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2015 in Malaysia alongside Singaporean ships and personnel. On the last day of the event, Shiloh, Republic of Singapore Navy frigate Stalwart and patrol vessel Sovereignty carried out a passing exercise at sea with other LIMA participants.

Shiloh is a multi-mission ship, capable of carrying out anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine warfare, as well as ballistic missile defense. MH-60R Seahawk helicopters, embarked from Helicopter Maritime Strike (HSM) squadron 51, detachment 4, extend the range and capability of anti-submarine and surface warfare, and add enhanced search and rescue and logistics capabilities.

Shiloh is on patrol in the 7th Fleet area of operation supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
