AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy - Senior Airman Jeffrey Ellis and his 35 coworkers brought entertainment in the form of singing and dancing to more than 500 Team Aviano members, Dec. 9.

After Ellis was selected to join TIB, he began his journey with a vigorous two month training program at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The tailored training prepared him to be physical fit for intense choreography and constant traveling.

"We go through a process called staging," said Ellis. "This is where we musically learn and condition for the show. We also go through various training sessions to learn proper etiquette and protocol."

After memorizing the routine, the 2014 TIB group set off for the 60th Anniversary World Tour. For more than eight months, the group has entertained crowds at more than 50 military installations in more than 10 countries.

For Ellis, performing in Aviano wasn't his favorite, because it caused the most nerves.

"Performing for my family at Andrews [Air Force Base] was my favorite," said Ellis. "But performing here at Aviano was more nerve-wracking. I have friends here that like to joke with me, so I didn't want to mess up."

The show kicked off with a range of top 40 hits, popular country singles and ended with the traditional rendition of "God Bless America," where the audience voluntarily stood to display their patriotism.

"Our show has something for everybody, no matter your taste in music," said Ellis. "Our show is built off the energy we give the audience. The night that we do not have energy is the night we let our audience down."

The TIB group also performed holiday carols at the annual tree lighting.

"The tree lights is already something I value because it makes me feel like I am home," said Airman 1st Class Ramzey Yousef, 31st Communications Squadron commander support staff technician. "Having [Tops in Blue] here singing carols made it more enjoyable."

Staying resilient around the holidays can improve the overall fitness for Aviano Airmen. Ellis explains how being away from his family was the most challenging part about being accepted into TIB, but the support he gained from his co-workers makes it easier.

"I think we are a huge family," said Ellis. "At the end of the day, I know for a fact that I can talk to anyone about anything on this team."

Ellis also added how important performing for Airman around the holidays means to him.

"Touring around the holidays lets us support the Airmen who are not around their families," said Ellis. "Being able to give back and be there for your wingmen is indescribable."

Each year TIB searches for new talent through their "Mission Audition" program. They search for female and male vocalist, instrumentalists, dancers and non-musical performers to tour and entertain at military installations. Although you can re-audition, participants cannot be a part of two consecutive TIB tours.

"It is rewarding to do this," said Ellis. "It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and if I never have an opportunity to do it again, I am so grateful. I love being on stage and I love performing. Being a part of this group has made me a better team member, a better Airman and a better man."
