Kennesaw Recruiter claims title of 6MCD Recruiter of the Year

    KENNESAW, GA, UNITED STATES

    10.21.2014

    Story by Sgt. Courtney White

    6th Marine Corps District

KENNESAW, Ga. - Every year, Marine Corps Recruiting Command trains over 1,200 highly qualified Marines to become basic recruiters who will in turn find the future of the Marine Corps by recruiting quality young men and women and transforming them through the foundations of rigorous basic training, our shared legacy, and a commitment to our core values, preparing them to win our nation’s battles in service to the country.

As friendly competition, MCRC challenges the recruiters to do their best and awards six recruiters the title of District Recruiter of the Year.

Over the course of fiscal year 2014, Sergeant Henry O. Moran demonstrated consistent excellence in the performance of his duties as a recruiter for Recruiting Sub-Station Kennesaw, Recruiting Station Atlanta, earning him the title of 6th Marine Corps District Recruiter of the Year for the second year in a row.

While on production, Moran, a native of Brooklyn, NY, shipped a total of 23 applicants to recruit training, had a net production of 2.17, a pool discharge rate of 7% and a Marine Corps Recruit Depot discharge rate of 0%, which set him apart from the seven other recruiters representing the other recruiting stations in 6MCD.

With absolute efficiency and effectiveness as a recruiter, Moran led RSS Kennesaw in over-achieving in every component and category both in contracting and shipping.

Moran contributes a lot of his success to staying involved with everyone he interacts with.

“It’s important for poolees and their parents to know that I am available for them whenever they should need me,” he said. “I just take genuine concern for their future and career path toward success.”

Since joining the team at RSS Kennesaw, Moran has always taken his work personal.

A typical day for Moran has him working around the clock and with his consistent planning, rapport building and prospecting his contracts have become more and more frequent.

“I really want to help every person I come in contact with,” said Moran. “I believe that the Marine Corps can really help anyone, just like it did for me.”

According to Moran, the most rewarding part of the job is seeing poolees and new Marines excited about being a Marine.

“Their motivation motivates me," he said.

Sergeant Moran not only makes mission, he makes Marines, said Master GySgt Randy T. Merritt, the Recruiting Station Atlanta Recruiter Instructor.

“He is truly passionate about finding the best of the best to fill the Corps ranks,” said Merritt.

Moran will now compete against the five top recruiters from the other recruiting districts in the country for Marine Corps Recruiting Command’s recruiter of the year.
