    CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. - New York Army National Guard Lt. Col. David Gagnon, a Stone Ridge resident and Iraq War veteran, assumes command of the 106th Regional Training Institute at Camp Smith Training Site near Peekskill this weekend.

    Gagnon takes command in a transfer ceremony from outgoing commander Col. Michel Natali, of Halfmoon, New York. Natali has led the 106th Regional Training Institute (RTI) since June 2011.

    WHO: Lt. Col. David Gagnon, the incoming commander of the 106th Regional Training Institute, received the colors of his new command from outgoing commander Col. Michel Natali.

    WHAT: A traditional military change-of-command ceremony in which the colors, or flag, of the brigade is transferred from Natali to Gagnon by The Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Patrick A. Murphy, signifying the change of responsibility and authority for the command from one leader to another. Traditionally the unit's color's marked the location of the commander on the battlefield and the ceremony allowed the Soldiers to know who their commander was.

    WHERE: Baker Hall, Building 502, Camp Smith Training Site, Cortlandt Manor, New York.

    WHEN: October 18, 2014 at 11 a.m.
