MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – The Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Falcons’ football team defeated the 1st Marine Logistics Group Beasts in their last regular season game 26-12, at Paige Fieldhouse aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif., Oct. 14.

The game started at a stalemate as both teams fought hard not allowing each other to score in the first quarter.

The Falcons’ offense came to life in the second quarter as Petty Officer 3rd Class Patrick Williams, Falcons’ fullback, punched across the goal line on a nine yard run making the score 6-0.

“The team performed well and we played Falcon football tonight,” said Williams. “We played as team, as a family and as one unit.”

The Falcons started to gain momentum scoring once again with 7:36 left in the third quarter as Lance Cpl. Jabari Moore, Falcons’ quarterback, connected with Petty Officer 2nd Class Juan Reyes, Falcons’ wide receiver, on a 25-yard pass. The touchdown and extra point made the score 13-0.

The Miramar defense started making plays as well, recovering a fumble on the Beasts’ 3 yard line. The following drive would result in a touchdown from Williams once again making the score 19-0.

Moore, evading defenders, would attempt a pass that would be intercepted by the Beasts that would result in a touchdown making the score 19-6.

Miramar would answer with a touchdown of their own after marching their way down the field. Sgt. Ian Sumner, Falcons’ tight end, would bulldoze his way into the end zone from the five yard line putting the Falcons up 26-6.

The Falcons would give up a touchdown to the Beasts with 27 seconds left in the fourth quarter. The Falcons would recover the onside kick attempt and end the game with a final score of 26-12.

“We still have a lot to work on,” said Master Gunnery Sgt. Carlice Moffett, Falcons’ head coach. “We’re going to continue to fight and we’re going to keep the boys hungry to play football.”

With the win the Falcons solidified their spot in the upcoming playoffs. The first playoff game will be held at Paige Fieldhouse Oct. 21 at 5 p.m.
