    LANSING, Mich. – The Department of the Army announced the Greenville-based, Michigan National Guard, 1073rd Support Maintenance Company as one of two winners in Army Award for Maintenance Excellence in the Medium Military Table of Organization and Equipment category (units with 101 – 300 members). Leading up to this award, the 1073rd competed and won at the state, regional, and National Guard Bureau levels of competition.

    On Wednesday, four Soldiers from the 1073rd Support Maintenance Company will travel to Washington D.C., to receive the Army award from the Chief of Staff of the Army, Gen. Raymond Odierno.

    As the Department of the Army winner, the 1073rd SMC will represent the DA to compete for the Secretary of Defense Phoenix Award, the next level of competition which will encompass military maintenance representatives from the Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The organization that receives this award is considered the best of the best among the military maintenance community.

    The ceremony will be viewable live at www.defense.gov/live, Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 9 - 10 a.m.
